Angel One launched US stock investing with the most aggressive opening offer in this market: zero brokerage until December 31, 2026. It clears through Vested Finance Inc. (Vested's US broker-dealer), operates on the GIFT City IFSC route, and offers 10,000+ stocks and ETFs.

The zero-brokerage offer is genuine — but FX markup is the real cost during this period, and brokerage returns at 0.1% + $0.99 minimum in January 2027.

How Angel One US stocks works

US stock investing is built into the Angel One app. Angel One holds an IFSCA GAP licence for the GIFT City IFSC route, and its clearing arrangement is with Vested Finance Inc. — the US SEC-registered broker-dealer that is also Vested's core infrastructure.

Transfer mechanism: Domestic NEFT/IMPS from your Indian bank account. No SWIFT, no A2 form, no Form 15CA/15CB. Fractional shares available from $1.

Effective zero-brokerage period costs

During the zero-brokerage period, FX markup is your entire platform cost on each trade. At an estimated 1.5% markup:

Transfer amountFX markup cost (est. 1.5%)
₹5 lakh≈₹7,500
₹10 lakh≈₹15,000
₹25 lakh≈₹37,500

The zero-brokerage promotion is most valuable for investors making many small trades — where brokerage on other platforms (0.25% × many trades) would add up. It is less meaningful for investors making few large lump-sum investments, where FX markup dominates brokerage regardless.

Post-January 2027 cost comparison

From January 2027, Angel One's 0.1% + $0.99 minimum is competitive with Zerodha (0.1%, $10 max + GST) and Groww (0.1%, $1 min). The $0.99 minimum is slightly lower than Groww's $1.

Trade sizeAngel One (post-Jan 2027)ZerodhaGroww
$100$0.99 (min)$0.10 + GST$1.00 (min)
$1,000$1.00$1.00 + GST$1.00
$5,000$5.00$5.00 + GST$5.00
$10,000$10.00$10.00 + GST (capped)$10.00

The main post-January cost differential is Zerodha adding 18% GST on brokerage (so $10 brokerage on a $10,000 trade = $11.80) while Angel One does not mention GST. Verify the current GST position in-app.

Stock universe

Angel One offers 10,000+ US stocks and ETFs — among the broadest of any Indian-facing platform, matching Groww and INDmoney. Fractional shares from $1.

SIPC protection via Vested Finance Inc.

Your US stock holdings through Angel One are held at Vested Finance Inc. and cleared through DriveWealth. This means SIPC protection up to $500,000 (including $250,000 cash) applies via the Vested/DriveWealth custody chain — same as Vested's own users.

TCS and tax treatment

Standard GIFT City IFSC LRS-compliant route:

  • 0% TCS up to ₹10L/year; 20% TCS above

Section 10(4D) potential capital gains exemption may apply — verify with a CA.

Angel One vs alternatives

Choose Angel One if:

  • You are already an Angel One user — same app, no extra KYC
  • You want to invest before December 31, 2026 and take advantage of zero brokerage
  • You need a wide stock universe (10,000+ names)
  • You're comfortable with the FX markup as the main cost

Important: FX markup (≈1.5%) applies even during zero brokerage. On ₹10L deployed, that is ≈₹15,000 in FX costs regardless of brokerage savings.

Choose Zerodha over Angel One if:

  • Your trades are after January 2027 and you prefer the cleaner 0.1% + $10 max vs 0.1% + $0.99 min structure
  • You want the clearest, most transparently disclosed FX markup

Choose Groww over Angel One if:

  • You are already a Groww user and the platform overlap doesn't justify two accounts
  • The zero-brokerage offer period has ended

Choose INDmoney over Angel One if:

  • You want ITR-format lot-level tax reports
  • You want OTC stock access
